Part five

"So, where is our illustrious new leader?" Undercover agent, Jake Shaw asked as he nodded his head toward Frank's empty office.

"Don't know," Cody shrugged as he continued correlating data from their last case on to the computer. "He had a visit from Bloom and I saw him take a phone call and then he was out of here. He's like a shadow. One minute he's here and the next...poof!"

"A shadow, an apt description," fellow agent Alex Cross chimed in.

"Yeah, all greys, no black and white with this guy." Jake huffed, still uncomfortable taking orders from a man he knew so little about. "You been able to dig up anything more on him?" he asked the hacker of the group.

Stabbing at the enter button, Cody swung his chair around, disappointment obvious on his face. "Nothing, but the basic info so far. His file has been buried so deep, I'm going to need a trench digger to get at it, or at least a few more weeks."

"But you 'will' get it, right?" Jake urged the computer expert.

"You have any doubts?" Cody replied his voice swelling with self-confidence.

"And I think the three of you are asking for trouble," Monica shook her head disapprovingly as she entered the room to join her UC teammates.

"Come on, Monica," Jake shot back at the department's profiler. "Don't pretend you're not curious about Donovan,"

"Curious? Well, yeah, maybe I am," Monica replied. "But stupid I'm not. A man doesn't have a past buried as deep as Donovan does for no reason and I for one, am not sure I want to know why."

"Bullshit, Mon," Jake smiled knowingly at the dark skinned profiler. "You want to get into that head of his even more than we do."
