Spoilers: "Insight" (pilot episode)
A/N: It's been awhile since I tried to write anything Profiler. So bear with me. I'm hoping
to use this as a way to ease myself back into writing my other story "Leaving It All
Behind". I adore feedback, so please leave me a review. Unbetaed, so all mistakes are
mine.
Summary: John's thoughts during the pilot episode.
Her beauty throws me off balance the moment I see her. Samantha Lawson, she calls
herself. A forensic psychologist. By the look in her eyes I can see that underneath she's
so much more. They're blue, and haunting, and I can't help but become lost in them.
They're burning holes into my soul. But I don't want to admit that I'm uncomfortable.
That she's gotten under my skin. That she's won.
"We don't have a whole lot of time here Doctor Lawson, so if you've got a theory I
wanna hear it."
I never intended for my words to sound so harsh. But she doesn't even flinch as they
leave my mouth. Her back straightens, and she walks toward me until our faces are just
centimeters apart.
"You want a theory?" She crosses her arms across her chest, indignation in her voice.
"You've got Chinese food in your refrigerator, you like your women in heels, your Scotch
straight and yourself definitely on top. But it's just a theory."
She's gone before I can reply. Before I can even consider an apology. Her heels clicking
against the hard tile, signaling her exit.
No woman has ever unnerved me so much. No woman has ever walked out on me like
that. But she wasn't just any other woman.
She was Samantha.
