Exile
By Leoni
Methos frowned. The island had three peculiar towers, each with a door that wouldn't open. He could see himself stuck there forever if he couldn't get at least one open.
He'd followed the thief Saavedro here, listened to him rant and rave and had realized that the only way back would be to find him, wherever he'd gotten to. So he needed to explore the island thoroughly to see if he could find anything to help him.
After a while he'd also come to the conclusion that although one could survive here, he'd rather not. There was no beer, for one. He did find all kinds of obscure instruments littering the island's rocky extremities. Exploring, he came across one device that looked as if it might still work. He turned a crank, and a noise far below alerted him to the fact that a solar reflector had turned and was now shining a bright beam of light his way.
Methos gave a satisfied sigh as he suddenly had an idea. Next to him was another device that obviously collected the light and beamed it onwards. Looking through it he could see another collector further off. It took some running around but finally Methos had aligned all the collectors till the multi-colored beam shone straight onto the door of one of the towers.
Excitedly he made his way to the tower door. It still wouldn't open.
Methos threw down his mouse in exasperation.
Muttering about modern computer games and how much more fun Pacman used to be, he collected his coat and sword and slunk out to find solace in beer at Joe's.
When he came back, he'd find a walkthrough on the Internet first. Then Methos, gamer extraordinaire, would be unstoppable!

Note: The game referred to is Myst III: Exile, by Ubisoft and Presto Studios - truly a stunning game, even if it somewhat dates me (as usual). Saavedro is played excellently by Brad Dourif :-)
Disclaimer: Methos belongs to Rysher: Panzer/Davis. No harm meant, I just take him out to keep me amused sometimes (like when invigilating tests - today's was a Distributed Systems practical test...)
