'Come dance with us

In the faery ring.

Naked and Free—

Come! With us sing

Hymns to the darkness…'

And in my mind I hear

A melody rise,

Haunting and clear.

It rises! It falls

My spirit it calls

With a voice that draws

Very, very near.

Enchanting Entrancing Impacting Reacting Outreaching Uplifting Eternal Divine

My spine shivers

The outer world withers

And all I can see is a small faery

Reaching out a hand

'Cross moon-stricken land

Reaching out a hand toward me…

I lean out further

Into the night

But before I can reach her

She vanishes from sight

Along with the darkness.

"Come back!" I cry

But receive no response

As the sun lights the sky.

I strain my ear

To try and hear

Her voice—twas so near

But only wind blows by.

Depressing Compressing Confessing Conforming Deforming Ignoring Eternal Not Mine

The sun is harsh. Its light plagues

My eyes and skin and thoughts all day

With burning touch and searing gaze…

I long for it to go away.

The faery haunts my memory

With thoughts of dark and cold and peace

I long for night to come to me

And from this hot sun set me free.

At last sunfall comes

And I wait eagerly,

Staring out my window

For a sight of the faery

While the world's bathed in darkness.

There! At last I hear!

The melody rise

Haunting and clear!

"Where are you?" I call

To the song's rise and fall—

And suddenly a lull

Rests on my ear.

The faery appears.

She reaches out her hand.

Quickly I stand

And take it.

~

i'm here.

do you see me?

trapped in an endless circle

of hate and pain and sorrow and death

i sit and weave and weave and weave

a horrible tapestry

of bitterness and pain

my life is my thread

and my mind is my needle.

where i am it's too dark to see

so i weave as best i can

and hope i won't mess up—

but i often do

and stab myself

instead of the cloth.

my fingers are filled with holes and ache in pain

and my blood spills freely from their swollen tips

but I weave on anyway,

letting the blood moisten the thread

and colour the tapestry

red for experience.

what did you say?

it's light where you are?

you'll have to excuse my incredulous smile.

i've thought i've found light before, too, you see

and every time I've woken up

to find it was just a pretty dream

and nothing more.

give me proof that yours isn't

and perhaps I'll listen

but only then.

look. if you aren't going to help

then please go away.

i don't want to hear about this light…

your words only hurt

and i hurt enough already.

please.

shh…

In the faery ring

Naked and free—

Come! With us sing

Hymns to the darkness!'

hymns to my bleakness

hymns to the darkness…

hymns to my weakness

hymns to the darkness…

A/N: Well, as for the poem itself, I'm not sure if I'm happy with it or not…it's so hard to judge your own writing sometimes, and the only person I have to read and comment on my work before I post it is a younger sister who doesn't care much for writing. Or thinking. And hates it when I put points in things I write, then ask her if she figured out what it was ~_^. So constructive criticism to the technical aspect of this thing would be greatly appreciated—though be gentle, please ^_^.

As for the point of the poem—bwaha. I am happy with that, and if you can figure it out without me having to explain it to you go buy yourself a soda. If you're stuck, or uncertain about it, leave your email for me in a review and I shall make sure to explain it to you.

Cookies to all who review ^_^.

(And bother ff.net for taking away all the pretty (and helpful) indentations when uploading this! Grr…)
