Seeing Red
By Kraken L.W.
I do not own Inuyasha or the song The Red by Chevelle.
(A/n: This is slightly Au, I haven't finished reading the mangas yet and neither have I seen the end of the TV series, so I made up my own damn ending. It's a bit depressing, but that's to be expected seeing as it's the first of a series of stories originally posted elsewhere. For those whom it may concern, DemonicFaerieLad has had to close down his page do to discovery by his dad. I will be posting some of the stories from the old site here till he gets the new one set up. Please contact TwisterAddict101 or Faerie Lad for my e-mail addy if the rest of you would like me to post yours here as well.)

When you're singled out
The red...
Well, it filters through.
He stands, sword in hand, in the middle of the battlefield. He is surrounded, he is bleeding, and he does not care. The girl is gone, his friends are gone, and his brother is dead. He has accepted his mission and his heritage. It is time to let it all go.
So lay down
The threat is real
When his sight
Goes red again
His anger and his demon blood mix and flow into the change. His eyes turn red; his skin gains its distinctive stripes. All he can feel is cold, calculating hatred of the creatures facing him. Once the blade prevented his transformation; now it merely protects him from the madness. The demons don't know this. All they know is that something has just gone very, very wrong.
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
He thinks of all their taunts, their condescension and hatred. He thinks of the humans he now protects. Of their fear and misunderstanding. Of their unexpected generosity and care for a lowly half-breed.
This change
He won't contain
Slip away
To clear your mind
When asked
What made it show
The truth
He can't send to most
True, most still don't understand, they still flee or take up weapons, but some accept him now. It is for them that he will do this. Must do this.
So lay down
The threat is real
When his sight
Goes red again
So lay down
The threat is real
When his sight
Goes red again
So lay down
The threat is real
When his sight
Goes red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
Seeing red again
See red
It is over now. The butchered corpses of the last demons in the known world litter the field. Mountains of gore and oceans of blood turn a beautiful meadow into an abattoir. All of them are gone. All but one. He smiles at something in his hand. It shakes slightly, and the prayer beads that have been with him for so long disintegrate in the light breeze that heralds the sunrise. He bows momentarily to the rising sun, and turns the blade of his people upon himself.
Sunlight touches the bodies and turns them all to ash.
