Miaka and Yiu, who was holding the Book of the Four Gods was enveloped by a warm red light

Miaka first sees Tamahome as he battled the would-be kidnappers.
~Pity those who wait
As Tamahome's second time to save Miaka, he fights in a narrow alley.
~Trusting love to fate
At Hotohori's palace, Miaka awaits doom as big slices of the pagoda come crashing at her. But the pain never came and she was stunned to see that Tamahome had shielded her.
~Finding out too late that they've lost it.
The miko stands in the rain, telling Tamahome that she loves him. He says that he's sorry, but he doesn't feel the same. The miko faints.

~They will never know the ways of love.
A stricken Tamahome, along with Hotohori and Nuriko watches as Miaka battles with her illness.

As the last of his consciousness drip from Tamahome, he envisions a wedding, his and Miaka's. Everyone is there in their fine clothes. He finds his father seating on a nearby bench. He smiles and sits beside him.

His father tells him to go back to the one that cries out for him. He hears Miaka's voice, hears her anguish and love. And as Nakago tries to kill his beloved, he appears, ready to fight once more to defend his love.

The battle of epic proportions begin. Tamahome fights tooth and nail for peace, for his family and for Miaka, his love. He emerges as victor as the unveiling of Nakago's past drew the curtain down on the war that had lasted for so long. Miaka tearfully makes her third wish as she says goodbye to her new friends and her one true love.

Yui finally manages to bring Miaka out of her lonelisness. She brings her to a spot where a man who claims to have a past life is. Her eyes widen as her heart jumps for joy. She shakily brings her hands to her face as the man brings up his own hand. Twin rings glitter in the fading ray of the sun as love blaze anew.
