Mr. And Mrs. Finkelstein were very happy, despite their absense of a child. Then, after a freak Halloween Parade accident that October, Mrs. Finkelstein was trampled to death.

From that day on, it was always raining in Mr. Finkelstein's mind. His wife was his best friend, and now she was gone, what would he do?

The normally outgoing Finkelstien locked himself in his tower, refusing company and leaving at night to visit his wife's grave. He was inconsolable and many feared he would try to take his own life.

One day while he was wandering around town in the middle of the night, he stopped at a toy store. There were vampire doll, jack(o' lantern) in the box and moldy dead objects but the one thing that caught his attention was a rag doll. It had long red hair and pale skin. She had stitches all over her body and wore a patchwork dress.

For weeks after that he would walk to the store and spend hours staring at the doll. He even came up with a name for her and would often speak to her. The people of Halloween Town thought he was going senile but whenever Mr. Finkelstein saw the doll, he was reminded of his wife and then felt better.

He knew what to do.....
