Battousai's Child
Kaiya sat in her mother's training school in front of her parents. The blue-eyed, black-haired girl looked up at Kaoru and Kenshin in anticipation.
"Honey, your father and I have to go away for a while," Kaoru told her daughter. The ten-year-old looked puzzled for a moment, then burst out weeping.
Kenshin sweatdropped. "Noodles, c'mon now. We'll be back in a few weeks, that we will, I promise." he said. Kaiya sniffled. Twenty-year-old Yahiko stepped out around the corner, carrying four large suitcases.
"Ready to go?" he asked, puffing. Kaiya sweatdropped, blinked comically, then pointed at him. "You're leaving me with Yahiko?" she said in disbelief. Yahiko dropped the suitcases. "What's wrong with that?" he demanded through his teeth, giving her an evil look. Kaiya returned his glare. "Everything!" she replied.
Her father waved his arms, a sweatdrop forming. "Now, now. Yahiko's a responsible adult now, that he is," he soothed. "So now he can help make some money around here!" Kaoru chimed in.
