Wes glanced furtively at the man beside him, while HER words bypassed the logic centers of his brain and danced a jig of obviousness on the way to his heart. He almost smacked himself on the forehead before realizing that SHE probably wouldn't approve of such gratuitous self-inflicted violence. So he continued instead with Furtive Glance, which turned into Sappy Stare when Charles turned to face him sooner than he'd expected. The same light of revelation was shining in his dark eyes that Wesley knew effervesced from his own, and suddenly the anger and jealousy of the last year melted away. Wesley grabbed his estranged friends in a tight, slightly awkward seated hug, and mumbled something vaguely apologetic into the side of Charles' smooth, dark neck. After a moment of surprised hesitation, Charles was hugging him back, stroking his mussed hair with a strong, sure hand. SHE watched the exchange and broke out in delighted laughter.
