When I saw the look on their faces, right before I left, somehow I knew....
My name is Bobby Drake. But call me Iceman, I'll tell everyone to start calling me that from now on. I've known for three years now what no one else in my family figured out until today. I am a mutant.
I was called to Xavier's school for the gift back before I even was sure myself. I'd noticed some strange things sure, my glass instantly freezing one time when I touched it, small stuff that I just shook off. Then Xavier sent a letter to my school, before I knew it, I was learning how to control powers I didn't even understand.
I always thought, that after I graduated I come back to my home town. Mutants would magically be accepted by then (looking back now I know how stupid that was) and I'd tell my family. They'd would be cool with it. Everything would be back to the way it was before I found my powers.
Then that day came, the goverment people in the mansion, from what had been my home because I wasn't normal. God, it's sickening what people say about mutants on the news, we've got maniac Nazi like people saying mutant should be rounding up into camps and shot. Then we've got some nut jobs who think mutant should be virtually owned by the goverment, and forced to use our powers to help them.
Anyway, that day I had to run to Boston. With my best friend John, my girlfriend Marie, and Logan, a guy whos not really me friend but...he's someone who would look out for anyone who he thinks deserves it. I told my parents my secret, they didn't take it well. They just freaked, worse then I'd ever seen before in my life, I never knew they felt the way the did about mutants. Then my brother...I'm not sure what he said on the phone but the police where at my place in seconds.
We barely ecsaped with our lives, then I looked into the window, I saw my family, the way they where looking at me, with the look on their faces I knew.....my god....I knew I was never going to see them again. That they want me out of their lives. I think that's the moment Bobby Drake died..............
