Artillery
(Sonnet)
Deafening light and blinding sound invades,
Overwhelms my senses. Fear does take plight.
My feet do follow, yet the world shan't fade
Closer does thunder roar as I take flight.
Fire does rain, freezing me where I stand.
I am paralyzed, my beating heart still.
My mind is lost; now a barren wasteland.
A shell of who I am with broken will.
Run and hide! Escape! Evade! Go! Just Leave!
Blood and steel lingers upon the chilled air.
Hope and dreams- words that I used to believe.
Such an ethereal fate do we all share.
Wishing it's like the fairy tales I've read,
But it's too late, I have long since been dead.
