On a cobweb
Afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway
I confess i was lost in the pages
Of a book

Time stood still. His heart didn't race, blood didn't surge in his veins like when he touched that one woman, or when he kissed the other.

Nothing moved. He didn't want to move. Just wanted to stand where he was, words stuck in a lump in his throat, his hand on the small of her back, just the beating of her heart.

Words he couldn't get out. Things he couldn't tell her, about how he wasn't happy, how he had wanted to run, how he was hoping that by helping the boy, bringing Croatia to him..some part of him would come alive again.

He'd feel like a doctor again.

Full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if a god will lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go

In your house
I long to be
Room by room
Patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone

"I'll see you around" she muttered into his chest. Part of her wanted to run, the other to stand where she was, bury her face in his chest.

Let go of all that pain in her chest. The pain, the feeling of being alone. She wasn't happy. She hated waking up every morning knowing she would kiss someone, feel empty, and fake her smiles, like before she came to Chicago.

"Actually, you won't see me for awhile" he said uncomfortably as she pulled away."That..the Doctor's Abroad, they asked me..."

All she could hear in the room was her heart racing in her ears, blood draining from her veins."Take care of yourself. I mean it" she muttered, straightening his clothes where she had rested herself, where she had wrinkled him.

"I will" he answered.

And on my death bed
I will prey
To the gods and the angels
Like a pagan
To anyone who will take me to heaven
To a place
I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised
The ground was bled
And there you led me on

There was no shaking the empty feeling. He was used to keeping all the lights in his apartment low. All the shades pulled, all the shadows alive.

There was no shaking that empty feeling of not having anyone in his arms.Luka piled on his coats, sweaters, and scarves, trying to get warm again.

Shivering, teeth chattering, Luka locked the apartment door behind him, and made his way to the waiting taxi.

She wrapped the blanket around her shoulders, shivering as she stood by the window, looking up into the gray sky.

Feeling her heart leap, and her stomach fill with regret everytime she saw a plane fly overhead. No matter how tight she wrapped the blanket around herself, nothing deep inside could keep away the feeling that she had made a mistake.

A plane rode low, almost lost in a collection of dark grey clouds. Abby stood perfectly still, watching it fly by her window.

Heart racing, she pressed her hand against the glass."Take care of yourself Luka" she muttered.

"I'll miss you" he answered, before resting his head on his seat, pulling the small, felt blanket over his body."I'm sorry...Abby"
