--------------------------------------------The Birth of A New Link -------- -----------------------------------

A young boy clad in sopping green clothes is thrown upon some large boulders by a rushing swirl of waves and foam. The fast, unchanging current of the water, once again engulfs his weak body into its darkness. With no sense of direction and total loss of energy, he gasps for air, its absence is replaced by the salty seawater and it flows into his lungs. He gags.and slowly closes his eyes, drifting lower and lower into blue darkness. His head is pounding and the pressure around his body is building. He is losing consciousness and without oxygen soon, his head will slowly lose enough brain cells resulting into a total body shutdown. The sound of the raging waves above him is droned out and all that is left is silence and blackness... "Hey kid?! Come on, you can't give up now! Open your eyes and look around you, the world still needs you! Wake up?! Your alive!!!" Link opened his eyes to find that the owner of the voice he had heard was none other than a fairy. He is now on a beach laying in a puddle of his own vomit. The sun is shinning so bright and everything is green and full of life. No wonder he was spared, his life on this planet could not be over, he had so much stuff he had left undone and needed to do. He sat up and looked around him. He had obviously been washed onto this island, or carried, he thought when he noticed tracks of a dragged body behind him. This fairy had saved him, for what purpose he thought, no matter what, he'd return the favor. "Thank you....?" "My name is Al. "I'm Link." "Laugh all you want at the name but I'm a fairy from the sea, and I may look weak but don't let your eyes deceive you, us fairies have incredible strength." "Oh I definitely wont underestimate you Al...smirk. By the way thanks for saving me-n-all." "Don't mention it, it was the least I could do. By the way when I was dragging you up from the ocean floor I found this." Al floats over to a sword lying in its sheath on the sand. Link slowly stumbles up onto his feet and picks up the sword. The sword gleams and takes in all of the light around it, splintering it into a thousand sparks of white radiance. As Link grasps it in his hand he feels a certain belonging and ease towards its use. He does a thunder attack and thrusts the sword into the sand.

Al is floating a couple yards back, watching Link practice his swordsman skills. He is filled with awe as he watches Link cut down a tree with no damage to the sword. Al is amazed with Link's skills and senses a certain bond between Link and the sword like long forgotten friends.

Link gathers some of the poles of wood he has cut down and ventures into the jungle with Al floating by his shoulder. The jungle is dense and filled with lots of vegetation. There is a thick canopy overhead only letting small amounts of light through, which create a gloomy effect around him. About 30 yards from the entrance Link finds a stream and a large gnarled and weathered tree hovering over the water, like a hand reaching down to take a drink. He sets to work building a home among the canopy of the trees. He designs a set of pulleys over the branches and with Al's help they finish the small home up in the tree by nightfall. Link had managed to carry a large flat rock into the tree house and laid it on the wooden floor. They have a small fire going and light shines through cracks in the wooden wall emitting shards of light on the earthen floor of the jungle. Somewhere off at a distant location in the woods the sound of a flute can be heard echoing through the forest like a soft breeze. Link falls asleep as Al's glowing blue light slowly fades out. Al stays awake though, sensing some creature lurching nearby. Perhaps a resident of the jungle that feels the unlikely pair have invaded its territory.
