Hey guys,
I hope you like my story. This is my first one, so please review
nicely.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Moulin Rouge characters; they all
belong to Baz Luhrmman (I don't know if that's spelled right). I also don't
own any of the songs used, they also belong to Baz.

(This story starts directly after the last curtain fall of the play)
The curtain dropped, and Marie immediately rushed onto the stage.
"Oh, you two are both incredible! Now hurry up, before someone sees her alive."
Christian picked up Satine in his arms, carefully holding her so that it looked as if she was dead. Satine tried to go completely limp, so as to give all of the stage hands the impression that she had to no power to move her body. As Marie led them quickly down the winding hallways behind the grand stage, Christian glanced down lovingly at his lover, longing to bend down and kiss her, just for a moment, but he couldn't, and they were at the door to Satine's room at the top of the elephant.
"Hurry and pack, I'll watch for the duke, or any of his spies, that come looking for you."
Christian carefully set his darling Satine down on the edge of her bed, and she looked up at him tiredly.
"Did they really believe us? That I was dead?"
"Of course they did. You were amazing."
She blushed. "Thank you, but you were just as good."
"Hardly. But enough with that, we must hurry and pack, before the duke comes in search of me. I'm sure he is still disappointed with Warner for not killing me."
She hurried around her little room, gathering her favorite possessions, and her diamonds, and her few outfits that weren't for performing in. Quickly she changed out of her feathered courtesan outfit, and into a plain black dress, that she had saved from before her life at the Moulin Rouge.
"I'm ready."She said softly, looking around the elephant, which had been her home for the last ten years.
Christian put is arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a tight hug. "Are you ready, Darling?"
"Yes." She said, with resolve. "Lets go."
They knocked on the inside of the door, and Marie answered from the outside. "It's all clear."
They quietly ran down the hall, down two flights of stairs, and out the back door. Marie hurried them around to the side, where Harold was waiting. Satine set down her bags and sighed, looking around at Christian, Marie, and Harold. Satine's eyes welled up with tears as she hugged Marie hard.
"Good-bye, Marie. I love you."
"I love you to, dear." She pulled back slightly, to look into Satine's eyes. "Now you come back and visit us, okay?"
"Of course we will. As soon as the Duke is gone."
"I'll send word when he is."
Marie kissed Satine on the cheek and stepped back, so that Harold could wrap his arms around her, and kiss his cheek, and say good-bye. When Satine pulled back, there were teas running down her cheeks. Christian put his arm around her shoulders, and gently led her out the gate. She paused, and looked back at the Moulin Rouge, and whispered: "Good-bye home, I'll be back soon."
And with that, they hurried away into the night.
