This is a poem told from the perspective of Vetch (Kiron) from Mercedes Lackey's book Joust.  I wrote this for school (the prompt was to write an "I come from…" poem from the perspective of a character in an independent reading book we had read.  I had just finished this book when I wrote it (I actually wrote it a while ago), and decided to do this.  I typed it up a couple days ago when we had to compile a set of three final copies of poems/paragraphs.  Explaining it all would take to long so I won't.  Please tell me what you think of this.  This is my first song/poem fic so I am not sure about it.  My mom really liked it, but she hasn't read the book.  And now I am rambling, so I will stop now.

Fire of the Dawn

I come from:

Desert storms,

Sand and Wind,

And little rain.

Separated from my family,

Forced to be a serf:

To my enemies.

No choices-

No life.

I come from:

Being carried away-

Flying…

Through the air…

On a dragon!

Being ostracized as the enemy-

But, working hardest of all.

I come from:

Stealing an egg…

Hatching it in secret…

Training her…

Raising her…

Escaping on her back when the time is right:

Avatre-

Fire of the Dawn

My life…

My world…

My Hope.
