This Is Just Wrong!
[AN: A parody. I don't Lord of the Rings, but I do own Ginny and Kurtz. Oh, and if there really is a Queenofmirkwood on fanfiction.net, I apologize. And I have never heard of a contest for any number of stories of ff.net. There is no foundation for this. Don't think there is one.]
Ginny flexed her fingers as she sat down in her computer chair. She had an idea for a fanfiction plot. What if a Lord of the Rings character (Legolas to be specific) came to modern Earth and landed in her house? Wouldn't that be the coolest thing ever? She giggled as she typed the opening paragraph.
'Ginny Martin was having a bad day. Her mom had banned her from watching the Fellowship of the Ring for the thirty-second time, so she had nothing else to do. She curled up in her window seat and watched the storm rage outside. The thunder and lightning were very impressive, but all she really wanted was her Leggy-poo sitting next to her, curled against her shoulder.'
Ginny smiled in appreciation of this wonderful fantasy. Mmmm. Leggy. She then continued writing.
'The storm became louder and more intense, the thunder and lightning alternating, with no breaks between flashes. After a particularly loud crash, the lights flickered and went out. She started up from her seat, only to bump into a tall, warm body.'
She paused. How to continue? Maybe this would be good enough for a first chapter. Nah. Had to be more. NEED ROMANCE!
'Startled, she sat back down on the window seat. Was it just her dad? Then the lights came back on and she saw that it was the handsomest, hottest person she had ever seen. Legolas Greenleaf, the elf who had her eternal love.'
Ginny giggled. This was going to get such good reviews!
'Legolas leaned forward, confused. "Excuse me, fair maiden. Where exactly am I?"
Ginny gasped. "You're in Modern Earth. You're Prince Legolas Greenleaf, aren't you?
"How do you know my name? Who are you?"
"Just a girl. My name is Ginny. Please, sit down. How did you get here?"
"There was a storm and I was struck by lightning. Then I turned up here."
Ginny gasped again. "I was just wishing that I could have you here! And then the storm, and, and, and."
Legolas smiled. "Do not fear, gentle maiden. It is obvious that I am stuck for a while."'
Ginny grinned. That was definitely a good place to end the first chapter. A bit of a foretaste of the quality writing they were going to get in the next chapters. She opened fanficton.net and logged onto her account, Queenofmirkwood.
When she clicked the 'Create Story' button, a message she had never seen before popped up. She read out loud, "Congratulations for posting the One- Billionth-Five-Hundred-Thousandth story on fanfiction.net. Your wish is being processed now."
She stared at the screen for about two minutes. "What wish? My Leggy-Come- Here-And-Fall-In-Love-With-Me wish? YAY!!!"
Just then her mother yelled up the stairs. "Ginny, go to sleep now! You have figure skating tomorrow!"
Reluctantly Ginny turned off her light and crawled into bed, dreaming of the wish that awaited her tomorrow.
Unbeknownst to her, the arbiters of good fanfiction had declared her story unfit for a good prize. She would be getting something rather different than she expected.
