REDWALL'S CHOICE
Cornflower awoke to a huge voice.
"Help! He's hurt badly!" the obviously female voice cried. Cornflower quickly ran to Abbot Vale's bed and shook the old ferret awake.
"Cornflower, what is it?" he grumbled.
"Fava Vale," said the tiny mousebabe. "I tink somefing big tryin ta get overa big walls," she squeaked.
Vale cocked his ears for a moment, then said, "go get Skipper, that otter always knows what to do." Skipper soon had his crew of otters organized. "Follow me," said Abbot Vale. The small group started out across the abbey lawns toward the walls.
"Hurry, he's dying!" cried the voice again.
"We're coming!" hollered Skipper.
"Thank you," said Abbot Vale to Skipper.
When they got to the walls they saw two of the biggest creatures they had ever seen. "Humans," whispered Father Vale. "Never seen one myself."
As usual, Sister Vernall the nurse was up early. Suddenly Skipper came crashing through the door. Before she could speak, he said, "Sister, get out the otter beds and find all the help you can get." After that, he darted out the door.
"Hm, that was odd," said Sister Vernall to herself.
"So, what are your names?" Abbot Vales asked the female human.
"My name is Triss Bowmaid, and he is Seahawk Storm. There is an army of woodchucks following us, we came to warn you."
"Good," said Abbot Vale. "I will post a wall guard and a lookout, thank you for telling us this news. You may stay at Redwall as long as you wish."
At exactly noon, John Churchmouse, the lookout at the time called down from the belltower. "I see them! They're coming down the path!"
Stay Tuned.......
A/N: Thank you for even bothering to read my story. It's the first one I've ever published. Plus, I'm only ten. And I'd also like to thank my sister for checking my spelling, grammar, punctuation, diction, verb tenses, and everything else that drove her insane about this story so far. She's also typing this........(yes, that's why it's so good! :-D) She types it for me because I'm a really crappy typer. So please stick around for the second chapter!
