When Cai took out the wooden spear, he knew he made a mistake. As a human, he was no match toward an ancient vampire; even as a vampire hunter, he was as slow as a turtle to a fox. But, when he reveled his identity, the vampiress was distressed and lost all hope. This was strange for this particular vampire. For he knew her. This was Mezo, the most feared of all vampires. He has hunted her for years.
"Go ahead." She said in a soft voice. It made him lower his weapon. Mezo looked up at him with her fiery hazel eyes. But she didn't look at him, she looked passed him, like she was blinded.
"To do what?" Cai asked, honestly confused. A glint of mad anger crossed Mezo's face.
"To kill me! It's what you wanted,"
"What..." He interrupted, but the vampiress raised her voice and talked over him.
"I know who you are and you know who I am! You made the mistake of telling me your name and letting me see your face! You must be pretty cocky or else thick to think you could kill me like that! What if I got free? What would you do then?" Cai wasn't offended, he was being thick, thinking he could just waltz up and kill a vampire without them finding out who he was. He was expecting her to run and tell all her friends about him. But she didn't move. She just stood there, looking and not looking at him.
"I'll leave then," Cai said, dropping the spear, "and live in fear for the rest of my life."
"You're not," Said Mezo, it sounded a lot like an order, "It's my fault you feel this way, I promise I won't tell anyone." She gave him a sly smile and walked away into the shadows leaving Cai stand there, dumbstruck. Your the best, he thought, unable to get the words out of his mouth. He turned the other way and left. That wouldn't be their last meeting.
