Disclaimer: I don't own Lizzie McGuire, Disney does. If I owned it, the show would still be in production, because I wouldn't have the stupid 65 episode limit. *pouts*

"Gordo? Gordo? Where are you?"
Five-year-old Lizzie McGuire looked around the playground, lover lip poking out fretfully. The place seemed to be deserted, aside from the two mothers sitting about ten feet away. They were drinking coffee, talking and looking over every once and a while to make sure that their children hadn't been killed by an axe murderer or something. At the moment, though, the little girl couldn't have cared less about either of them. Her best friend was missing.
"Gordo!"
She looked everywhere she could think of. Under rocks, behind their favorite slide, in trees, everywhere. No luck. Finally, out of ideas and lonely, she sat down in the grass, sniffling.
"Where are you?" she asked, in a low, sad voice.
"Right here."
Jumping to her feet, Lizzie turned around. In front of her stood a little boy. The top of his head was covered in thick, dark brown curls, and his blue eyes were sparkling with mischief and life.
"Gordo! You scared me!" Lizzie cried, emphasizing the word 'scared' with a stomp of her foot. "I couldn't find you, and I thought you were dead or kidnapped or… or…." Her hazel eyes filled with tears, and one slipped down her cheek.
"I'm sorry, Lizzie," Gordo said in a small voice. He hated it when she was upset, so he decided to make her feel better. Surveying the ground, he found a patch of dandelions, picked what he thought was the best one, and held it out.
"Will you marry me?" he asked.
Lizzie looked at him, all trace of sadness gone from her eyes. "Okay!" she said, taking the flower from him. She studied it for a moment, chewing her lip thoughtfully.
"Don't people usually give each other rings when they get married?" she asked finally.
"Hmmm," Gordo said. He thought for a minute and suddenly his eyes lit up. "I know! Here, give me the flower, then hold out your hand, like this." He demonstrated a hand with its fingers splayed out. Lizzie followed suit. Very carefully, the little boy tied the stem of the dandelion around Lizzie's ring finger, fashioning a crude ring.
Lizzie was delighted.
"Cool!" she exclaimed, holding out her hand in front of her to admire her 'wedding ring.' "Come on, let's go show my mom!"
Lizzie grabbed Gordo's hand and pulled him over to where their parents were sitting.
"Look, mommy! Look, Mrs. Gordon!" Lizzie cried, showing the ring on her finger to the two grown women. "Me and Gordo got married! He porposed… persoed…."
"Proposed?" Lizzie's mom guessed, with a small smile.
"Yeah, that!"
"So, what are you guys going to do now that you're 'married?'" Mrs. Gordon asked.
"I dunno," Lizzie said, furrowing her brow.
"I know what we could do," Gordo said to his 'wife.'
"What?" she asked.
He reached out and touched her arm, then ran away.
"Tag, you're it!" he yelled over his shoulder. Lizzie laughed and took off after him.
"Do you think the 'proposal' was a sign of things to come?" Mrs. Gordon asked, turning to Mrs. McGuire.
Mrs. McGuire looked over at the two children. She watched as Lizzie grabbed Gordo around the waist, causing them both to fall to the ground. Lizzie laughed and shrieked as Gordo got his revenge by sitting on her stomach and tickling her. The woman could easily imagine the two all grown up and walking down the aisle. They had that bond, the one you knew that would never break, no matter the circumstances.
"I don't doubt it," she said.
