It was a tempestuous, chilling night, magnified ten times more by the fact that they were sleeping in an ancient, forbidding house in a foreign land. The spookiness of this was magnified yet another ten times by the fact that the island they were on was originally called Pulau Blakang Mati, or 'The Backbone of Death'. Bubbles was extremely relieved to find that the new name meant peace.
"Professor, why did you take us here for the holidays?" Blossom had asked when they arrived at the airport. The Professor had smiled and explained that he had recently taken up an interest in genealogy and his research showed that his ancestors used to live here. Now they were staying in his friend's old house, which they were renting. The Professor was talking about their original ancestor who had come to this tropical island.
"The first of the family came here on a job. His name was Craig Johnston and he sailed from England. He was about eighteen at the time…" And so Professor Utonium wove a tale of immense interest about Craig Johnston involving the wild tigers of the olden days, which stalked the forests, searching for prey, until his beloved daughters fell asleep. Into a deep, deep slumber they plunged…
…And out of this deep slumber they awoke, on the coast of the English Channel.
