Title: Never Run With Scissors

Author's Note: This story was inspired by a conversation Jack and Daniel had in 'Urgo'. If you haven't seen that episode check it out. It's a riot.
As SG-1 was gearing up for their mission, Sam motioned Jack aside.
"What is it, Carter?"
"Well, sir, I was just wondering...what did you mean in there when you said 'Never run with scissors'? That's not a cliché I've heard you use before."
Jack smiled.
"It's not a cliché, it's just something my father told me once."
Suddenly Jack was caught up in a memory...
10-year-old Jackie was chasing his sister Annie with a pair of scissors. Don't think that he was a mean brother; he was just getting her back for when she dressed up his GI Joes in Barbie outfits. Suddenly, Jackie heard his father's gruff voice.
"Jackie!"
He turned around to face his father. Jackie's lip quivered with fear. Boy, was he gonna get it.
"Don't be afraid, son, come here."
His father motioned for him to come sit on his lap. Jackie took a deep breath. Whenever his father wanted him to sit on his lap it meant a serious conversation was about to begin.
"Jackie, I want you to listen very carefully to what I'm about to tell you. It's very important. Ok?"
Jackie nodded.
"Never run with scissors or somebody's gonna get hurt. Now, by scissors I don't just mean those metal things you cut with. Those are dangerous, but there are things a lot worse. By scissors I mean anything sharp and pointy that could hurt someone."
Little Jackie stared at his father in confusion.
"Sharp and pointy? You mean like a knife?"
"No, but those are bad too. I mean things like emotional baggage, a bad attitude, a frown. Those are things that could make or break someone. And in the military they're bound to get someone killed. So, don't live with scissors...or run with them."
Jack's memory faded and he realized that Carter was standing there staring at him. He cleared his throat.
"So, remember Carter, don't ever run with scissors or somebody's gonna get hurt."
"Uh...yes, sir...I'll remember that. Isn't it about time to go?"
"Quite right."
So, they headed off to P4X-884 unaware of the 'scissors' they were going to face.
