(Standard disclaimers: I used parts of "Lawyers Guns and Money" to write
this fic, but I heard this song, which is not mine by the way, and just
thought it would be a good way to finish that episode. So please don't sue
me I didn't write the parts that are in quotes, I'm just borrowing them)
This was going to be hard.
I hated having to tell Harm I was going away. I know that is going to freak out on me, and try to stop me from going. It's just typical Harm.
I hear the music as soon as I get off of the elevator, and at first I think he is entertaining someone, but who?
I press my ear to the door, and try to listen in.
"I don't like you
But I love you
See that I'm always
Thinking of you
Oh, oh, oh,
You treat me badly
I love you madly
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby
I don't want you,
But I need you
Don't want to kiss you
But I need you
Oh, oh, oh
You do me wrong now
My love is strong now
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby
I love you and all I want you to do
Is just hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me
I want to leave you
Don't want to stay here
Don't want to spend
Another day here
Oh, oh, oh, I want to split now
I just can quit now
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby
I love you and all I want you to do
Is just hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me"
I smile and knock on the door, well here goes nothing. ""Hey," He says opening the door to let me in.
"Hey. Are you entertaining?"
"No, uh, just entertaining myself," He says and laughs.
"I just came by to see how you are after all you've been through."
"Well, uh, so far no one's accused me of murder."
"Well, it's early yet," I say teasing him.
"That's true," He says gesturing for me to take his coat "Whoa!"
"What?" I say laughing at his expression.
"Something you want to tell me?" He says pointing to my belly.
"Hmm, plenty."
"How did you hide this?"
"Bigger clothes."
"There's a story here .... somewhere."
"Listen, I'm going away," I said trying to break this as gently as possible.
"Where?"
"Can't say."
"For how long?"
"Don't know."
"This has Webb written all over it," He says with a hint of aggravation.
"He needed a pregnant wife. I'm his cover story."
"Is it dangerous?"
"Very. I travel to Paraguay tonight. But I needed to know that you're okay. You've been through a lot lately. (I wince at his upset and worried look) I'm coming back, you know."
"I don't want you to go, Mac."
I sigh heavily, "why is it that you're only like this when I have one foot out the door? Your interest always fades when I might actually be in a position to return it." "Mac...."" But I don't turn back. As soon as the door shuts I hear him swear loudly, something Harm never does. I almost turn around, but I hear more music coming from his apartment.
"I don't want you,
But I need you
Don't want to kiss you
But I need you
Oh, oh, oh
You do me wrong now
My love is strong now
You've really got a hold on me
You've really got a hold on me, baby"
I sigh, and continue walking towards the elevator. "I know Harm; you've got a hold on me to. Maybe when I get back, we can figure this out."
