A/N: This is just a short piece I wrote before these eps even aired, how I imagined this going. It didn't quite turn out that way, but whatever. This was just a warm-up piece basically, which is usually how I like to start when I start writing for a new show. New for me, anyway.

He swore he'd never be like him.

Steven Hyde and Michael Kelso were nothing alike. Except that they were exactly the same in the eyes of Jackie Burkhardt.

They were both lying cheaters that had stomped on her heart, and right now she couldn't stand the sight of either one of them.

Everything had come to a head in Eric's basement, and she felt like the walls were closing in on her. Resisting the urge to stomp her feet and scream, she looked at the two boys before her, balled her tiny fists up at her side, and spoke.

"You," she said, pinning Kelso with her angry gaze. "Shut. Up."

He'd been blathering on, tearing Hyde apart for the last five minutes, and if she couldn't make him shut up just by telling him to, he was going to see the damage those tiny fists could do.

Kelso just rolled his eyes. "Fine, Jackie. But I'll have you know," he started, pointing at Hyde.

She cut him off. "*I* will have *you* know that you're a repeat cheater, and a *complete* dumbass!" she yelled. "Get out!"

As stupid as Kelso was, he knew better than to try to stay. He scrambled out the door, finally leaving Jackie and Hyde alone.

He'd been quiet ever since she came here to confront him. What could he say? He'd messed up big time, and thanks to Kelso's past behavior she wouldn't forgive him now, if ever.

And he couldn't blame her one bit.

He could tell her he'd never cheat on her again and mean it, but he didn't expect her to believe him. Even if she broke up with him right now and never took him back, he didn't think he'd ever be able to put his heart into a relationship again.

That would be hard to do, considering Jackie had it. She may not want it anymore, but she had it.

"I thought you were different," Jackie finally said. "I thought you knew how badly Michael had hurt me, and I wasn't going to get a repeat performance from you."

Hyde was trying not to look like this was killing him, as he stared at a spot on the floor.

"I didn't mean... I thought you and Kelso..." he stopped. What was he supposed to say? There was absolutely no excuse for what he'd done, and he wasn't the kind to pretend there was.

"Jackie, I know it's not going to matter to you right now, or maybe ever, but I'm sorry. You don't know how sorry I am."

Jackie scoffed. "Sorry you did it, or just sorry I found out about it?"

She knew the moment she said it she didn't mean it. But she was hurting so badly that she wanted to hurt him just as much.

"Jackie..." It would've been a reprimand if he hadn't been in the wrong.

"Steven, I don't want to hear it. You obviously have some trust issues, and I thought I was over mine. Thanks for giving them back to me."

Jackie turned on her heel and walked out the door, leaving Hyde all alone.

Just like always.
