"Hello!" Andy calls over porch and the distance between himself and Nina, who sat watching the Taxi drive away.

Nina waves briefly back at Andy, attempting to keep her facial expression even, or at least even enough that the over the distance Andy won't ask questions that Nina isn't ready to answer.

"Is that Carl leaving?" Andy questions, "If I had known that his visit would have been so short I wouldn't have sent Delia over to you for the weekend."

Searching for her voice Nina lets the silence hang in the air for several moments before she calls back, "no, don't worry about it Andy. She was fine, and Sam had a lot of fun."

Nina turns to face the street and due to the silence Nina assumes that Andy had gone back into the house. But instead Andy appears in front of Nina with the question, "I thought I would take you and Sam out for breakfast to thank you. I would cook, but..."

"Yeah, that'll be fine." Nina responds noncommittally.

"What's going on Nina?" Andy asks his voice suddenly concerned.

"Andy, I don't want to talk about this right now. Please." Nina whispers softly.

"I won't accept that." Andy responds.

"Andy-"

"Nina you have helped me through a lot in the last couple months. I'm not going to accept that the instant you have a problem you can't come to me with it."

Nina falls silent for several minutes and slides to the porch steps finally, when Andy is sitting next to her, she says, "Carl and I are over."

"What happened? I'm sure it's not as serious as that." Andy responds quickly.

Nina shakes her head, "Yes, it is. He's gay." The words suddenly just spill out of Nina's mouth, a surprise to both Nina and Andy.

It's Andy's turn to fall silent now, but when he finally speaks again he asks. "Is there anything I can do?"

Nina bites her lip attempting to hold the tears that threaten to fall in, "can you just hold me?"

Andy nods, smiling and takes Nina gently into his arms, the two neighbors sit together at a standstill as the world around them goes on.
