She's drifting away. Her eyes are still shining, but her skin is growing paler. All the things I want to say to her form a lump in my throat and suddenly I cannot say anything but her name  'Sydney… Syd, Syd Syd Syd…' I kiss her face lightly, for the first time. Her lips curve into a sad but satisfied smile. She rest her head deeper in the crook of my arm. Her eyes close slowly and her breath calms down.

A hand on my shoulder.

'Mike ?'

Get away. You're going to wake her up.

'Mike… you've got to let her go now'

He's drifting away. His eyes are already close, but I keep whispering his name, to push nightmares far away : 'Danny… danny danny danny…'. I kiss his face lightly,  like I always do. He's smiling a small but contented smile. His body gets heavier in my arms and his breath calms down.

A hand on my shoulder.

'Mike ?'

Stay. You're not going to wake him up.

He always sleeps peacefully, when we're at his side.

'Mike… you can let him go now'

She's right here. Her eyes are shining, her skin glows in the dim light. My body tells her all the things I want to say. She keeps whispering my name 'Mike… Mike Mike Mike…' She's kissing my face, and she's smiling, the purest smile I've ever seen.

My hand on her belly.

On the scar which might have taken her away.

'Mike … '

My wife, my little boy, both safe and sound. What else do I need ?

'…I think Danny might have a little brother soon'

I know it's very short, but I've had a major writer's block  so please review, it means very much to me. Please excuse all mistakes, but English is not my mother tongue ( to all writer suffering from a writer's block : writing in another language is really helpful !!)
