Unfinished Business

Sunnydale, California. Once a place of demons, evil, and friends was now nothing but a crater of dust and bones.

"We're free," Willow breathed, "free from this hell. We can live our lives normally again, without the weight of the world on our shoulders."

I nodded my head slightly, not convinced. Somehow it felt like my journey as a slayer wasn't over. The sight of the dead potentials and Spike's final words to me were heavy in my mind. I sighed, blinking back some tears at thought of how I almost lost all the people in the world dear to me. I turned around and looked at my sister, her face was pale and her clothes wore torn and dirty.

I hugged my sister again and I felt her begin to quietly sob. She hadn't cried on my shoulder in such a long time, it was oddly comforting to know that someone depended on me, that now that I wasn't the only slayer I had a reason to continue living.
