I didn't think I'd write an Author's note to such a short piece of writing, but some of the comments I have received make me feel that I ought to explain something to readers outside the UK. Normally, I would beware of people who feel that they need to explain their writing, but in this case – since it is me doing it – I urge you to have patience with me. Now read on:
During the innocent Seventies there was a television show on British children's TV that was called "Captain Pugwash". If that name means nothing to you I wouldn't worry, because it obviously didn't to any of the powers that were at the time, either1. Suffice to say that the show featured such unforgettable characters as Roger the Cabin Boy, Seaman Stains and Master Bates.
In spite of this2, the show ran for a good many years – which could only happen in Britain – and the captain, my captain, is a tribute to all the crew members who served under the illustrious Pugwash.
Incidentally, should you ever come across an episode . . . er . . . you know what I mean! . . . then I'd really recommend you to see it, for it is good, unclean fun.
So there. Thus endeth today's lesson in cultural deviancies. Last but not least, thank you to all of you that have reviewed this and other stories of my making. I wouldn't do it without you!

1 But IF you decide to look it up, then do so on an empty stomach. You have been warned!!
2 And if you still don't know what I'm talking about, then I give up. Go away. Read something else. Go on!
