Aeryanna looked down at her storybook, her Daddy had made for her, when she was a little girl. Now that she was six cycles she felt to old to keep these baby things. Putting them into a stack, she looked around her room for more things. Going over to her bed, she saw her bunny rabbit her Daddy had said that Mommy had help him make for her. Her Babbit. She attentively reached out her fingers letting them run down the side if it's worn body.
Babbit had always been her friend, playmate and confidant in sharing her secrets and fears. Leaning back she scoped the room for something else, but her blue eyes came back to rest on Babbit. A tear rolled down her cheek; again she reached out her fingers only this time she picked it up. Staring at it a deep pain burned in her chest, hugging him close she went over a sit next to the stack thing she had created.
Sitting Babbit in her lap, she picked up one of her favorite books. Opening up the pages she started to read out loud.
"What are little boys made of, made of?
What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails;
And that's what little boys are made of, made of."
Laughing, she said. "See, Babbit, boys are made from the icky stuff. That's why Ian does gross things. Daddy just said it's a guy thing."
Hugging her bunny close to her small body she kiss it on top of the head.
"Mommy told me a secret that was just for us girls to know. You know what? Girls are superior because we are smarter, stronger and.sweeter.and.prettier. Mommy said that she learned a phase from Earth, called girl power. You know Auntie Chi likes to sing and dance around saying Girl Power. It's really funny when Daddy and Uncle D'Argo laughed at Uncle Rygel because he didn't like hearing it."
She looked down at the book and finished reading the rest of the fair tale to her Babbit.
"What are little girls made of, made of, made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice and all that's nice;
And that's what little girls are made of, made of."
She turned her bunny so she could look at its face. "I was going to give you to my new baby sister that Mommy will finish growing soon," Aeryanna kissed Babbit once more. "I'm a big girl now, and I'm going to have to teach the baby about girl power. But I can't give you to her yet. I still need you too, but don't tell anyone. No one can keep a secret for very long on this ship. Lose lips sink ships. And we don't want to sink Moya."
Aeryanna wiped a tear away as she hugged her Babbit closed and started to rock it, humming a soft tune.
She whispered, "I still love you Babbit."
Aeryn watch from the doorway her heart going out to her daughter. She had to keep from going in and taking her into her arms. Her baby girl was growing up fast. Rubbing her hand in circles on her bulging belly, she couldn't understand how she came to deserve this wonderful life she now was living.
'Yes, Babbit protect my little girl's secrets."
