Lily's escape

She needed to breath more freely. And it wasn't in the common room or in her dormitory that she would gain that sense of freedom. The lake crossed her mind but she decided against it since so many people could pop in. Her last choice, getting lost in the depth of the castle. Surely it wasn't that hard to get lost in Hogwarts, with all the changing staircases and rooms, there was always something new to discover.

At last she had found something to escape reality. She got up, and she casually walked out of the portrait hole unnoticed by most. Once she was out of sight of the Fat lady, she began to run in the dark, not really noticing were she was going. To what seemed like 2 minutes to her but really was a quarter of an hour later, she stopped and looked at her surroundings. One object caught her eye, it was a painting, but there was something unusuall or plain normal if you prefer, about it.

The picture wasn't moving and it wasn't really distinct. She approached it to get a better look at it. There was this human like form sitting legs brought up to its chest and arms around its knees. The whole thing was painted in different shades of blues. A sense of familiarity over came Lily and just as her fingers brushed the portrait, it moved slightly. Surprised, she moved back ever so slightly, that gave her the opportunity to examine the small hole that was now exposed. She put her finger into it and a pan of wall shot open. This time she almost let out a scream. But, she gained her senses in time. She walked through the opening and what she saw at the other end made her gasp in amazement. She found herself in a huge room, with an enormous window giving sight of the lake. Underneath it was this comfy looking window-seat. But what amazed her most were the walls covered in books and the beautiful grand piano that stood in the middle of the room, with not even a glimpse of dust on it. She spent a good hour there before she decided to go back to the tower. After all, she had to find her way back since she hadn't paid attention to where she was going at first. She decided to keep this room a secret, it would be hers. After half an hour, she was back in the Griffindor common room, playing the way to that marvellous room over and over in her head to make sure she would never forget it.

She sat back down and started to stare intensely in the flickering flames of the fire. She didn't notice somebody sitting down next to her.
