Chapter 1
Draco sat in one of the chairs of his small dining table in his small new apartment that he had bought after his seventh year in Hogwarts and leaving his home. He took a bite from his butter-covered toast and drank some orange juice. There was a knock on the brown, apartment's door. Draco put his toast down and hurried to the door.
"Draco?!" A girl with silky, brown hair, brown eyes, smooth tan skin, cherry-red lips, a pink top with a red skirt and a blue cloak smiled in surprise.
"Hermione?!" Draco said, his expression as shocked as Hermione's. "Wha-- What are you doing here?" Draco smiled. "And you... you look so... so different."
"Thank you." Hermione smiled.
"Oh, please come in." Draco smiled indicating Hermione inside with his right hand. Hermione walked into the apartment and sat on a navy blue sofa. "So, what are you doing here? What's new?"
Hermione smiled proudly. "Well, I've been working in the Ministry." She said pointing at a badge on her blue cloak. "I've moved to my new apartment... like I see you have." She continued looking around with interest in the small apartment.
"Yeah, I couldn't live with my father anymore, he wanted me to become a death-eater, just like him." Draco said, his smile fading away.
"Oh, I see. Well, I just came to say hi, and... something else that I found out in the Ministry, it is really important that you know it, Draco." Hermione said, her cheerful tone changed to a worried one.
"Something important?" Draco frowned.
"Yes. Look, I'm not supposed to say this, but... since it is you..."Hermione said avoiding Draco's eyes.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Draco asked.
"Well..." Hermione said twisting her lips. "Remember how Harry beat You-Know-Who during our seventh year in Hogwarts?"
"Yeah." Draco nodded.
"Well, what happens is that You-Know-Who, seems to be..." Hermione looked around the apartment, as if checking no one was listening. She reached closer to Draco, and whispered. "alive."
"WHAT?!" Draco shouted, his eyes wide in surprise.
"Shh!" Hermione said putting her index finger over her lips. "Someone might hear!"
"But... I don't understand, I mean, Harry had destroyed You-Know-Who into pieces, and the death-eaters stopped working for him and believing in him!" Draco said shocked.
"Yes, I know, but the Ministry has found many clues that indicate he's alive, like-- where You-Know-Who died-- many people have been disappearing when they pass that area..." Hermione whispered so low, that Draco had difficulties hearing her.
"But... are you sure?" Draco frowned.
"No. That's why we haven't told anyone yet." Hermione whispered. There was a moment of awkward silence that Hermione decided to brake. "Anyways, I didn't come to tell you that."
"No? Then... what is it?" Draco asked curiously.
"Do you remember before You-Know-Who died-- what he had said about those who he invited into his world, but they didn't join?" Hermione asked.
Draco nodded.
"Well, if he's alive, he will surely do what he promised before his 'death'." Hermione said nodding too.
Draco gasped. "But... my father wouldn't kill me, would he?" Draco frowned worriedly. Hermione gave him a what-do-you-think? look. "Well, my father's a man that can do anything just for power..."
"Yes. Oh, gosh! Look at the time," Hermione gasped turning at her wristwatch. "I'm going to be late! They'll fire me for sure! Well, 'Bye, Draco." She continued standing up and walking out of the apartment.
