A low humm permeated throughout the room as the machines and monitors
set to their tasks. Men and woman walked back and forth busily checking
every last detail mindfull of the girl resting on a table, the center of
the room. Red hair trailed down her face, a simple white garb covering her
body punctuating the wires and cables attached to her neck and back.
"Check the inhibitors we dont want another surge like last time"
An old man by a computer issued orders to his subordinates eager to complete the final process of the experiment. The department had received generous backing from Lian Makamura, even providing the test subject. Althou it had taken a few years Majiro Tomadake was confident they would achieve the desired results, despite the more recent setbacks. He was an old man with gray hair and slouch in his posture, and yet his calm brown eyes still shone with brilliance. A small gold ring lay gently in his hand and he stared down at it with a mixture of sadness and respect
"So young.. this world can often be so cruel..to crush hopes and dreams of love" One of his assistants stopped looking at him a bit dumbfounded before replying "Ah.. is everything ok sir?" Majiro let out a small chuckle waving him aside "Of course.. let us just not forget to pay our respects to our lovely Rika" The assistant nodded running down a small list on his clipboard with his pen "All preparations are complete..should we begin?"
The machines hummed louder as the experiment began, data displayed on several monitors quickly before vanishing. The lights dimmed for a moment before shattering into sparks and glass."Just a little longer.." Majiro muttered under his breath his fingers racing over the monitor keyboards making adjustments as the memory began to pour into Rika's syntethic body. This was always the hard part, the computers and electrical systems tended to overload at their attempt to transfer human memory, personality, and perhaps soul. After a few moments the room calmed, backup systems began to kick in filtering light through the few lights and consoles left unbroken.
She opened her eyes and small glimmering bits of data flashed across them as she ran diagnostics. After everything for her check cleared, the pupils of her eyes suddenly appeared and the blue iris' became brighter. The room hung with a silence as she raised herself on the bed, the wires and cables falling from her like threads of silk."W..Where am i?" Majiro was the first to respond as the whole room seemed to breath a collective sigh of relieve
"Your in one of Makamura's branch offices located near Genotia harbor.." She blinked at him her eyebrows furrowing slightly as she thought "Ah.. i dont know.. what that is.." Majiro closed his eyes letting a smile spread across his face "Well.. you have been recently brought back to life.. dont worry you will start understanding soon enough.. we cant expect you to know everything after just waking up, but tell me do you remember your name?"The girl looked at him with a thin smile and responded "I am Rika.."
