Summary: just a little poem I wrote one day about a team member who's been
faced with something she never really believed would happen. Could apply
for both Shalimar and Emma, but I wrote it for Shal.

**Only Human**
Alone, she sits in silence
Heart suppressed, mind detached
Eyes a faraway mist of stone
The door is closed; the bolt is latched.
She thinks of things as she did before
Deep in denial once more
She won't accept what she sees or hears
Yet shies away from forgotten years.
Her gaze takes in the outer view
Of pink and gold and green and blue
Curious, she thinks, that she cannot feel
She cannot afford to.
She does not remember
Because she dares not
When all she knows shatters around her
Her mind is the only sanctuary left.
That stubborn flicker of dismay stirs
She hardens her heart against it
Yet she cannot deny that without her dream
She might as well be dead too
Because, when all is said and done
She does know the deeper truth
That her dream has dissolved to dust
The dream of immortality.
