/ * / Disclaimer: Once again, I do not own Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts
or any of the characters. This is my little story on what happened before
Squall left his world and ended up in Traverse Town. If you haven't played
Kingdom Hearts, you should be able to enjoy this story anyway. Flames

Prelude.
Taking one last look at their beloved home, she gasped for a precious breath of air, the red hot liquid dripping from her body. Tears poured from her eyes as they took in the horrible sight; the once beautiful Garden now destroyed, overrun with dark creatures. The dark veil on the sky shattered all thoughts of victory, almost all the fighters had fallen or given up and were taken by the dark forces. Frantically she searched around for any sign of him, choking out his name as she felt her heart break. They had been seperated, and she had been running around the chaos in an attempt to find him. In one final blinding flash of light, she screamed out to him, but was only met with numbness.
Jumping up in her bed, Rinoa panted and ran a hand across her forehead to wipe off the sweat that had built up. That dream; that terrible dream that she had been having every once in a while had returned to her that night. She stared off into the night's darkness of their room, trying to erase the visions that were embedded in her memory. Trying to understand them proved futile, as she had attempted before and was only baffled in the end. Something beside her stirred, and she exhaled deeply in comfort as warm, protective arms wrapped around her.
"Nightmare again?" His voice was gentle, his expression one of concern for his angel.
"Yes, same one again." She layed back down next to him, resting her head on his chest. Immediately her fears returned as she touched him. The thought of losing him, not being able to find him, their home completely destroyed. Without realizing it, a tear had fallen against his chest.
"Love.. it's alright now." Squall gently ran his fingers through her hair as he leaned up and kissed her forehead to try and calm her down. He reassured her for now, but what if the dream meant something? She would rather die a thousand times than be lost to him forever.
"Squall... promise me we'll always be together." Her voice trembled slightly as she whispered out to him. Propping herself up, she looked him in the eyes. There was a look of complete sincerity and worry in them, which always made him feel uneasy.
"I promise, Rinoa. I'll never lose you..." The sound of his voice was reassuring as he trailed off. Leaning up, he pressed his lips gently against hers, causing her to gasp in ecstasy. When he kissed her, she felt her soul light on fire, her heart pounded wildly at the small amount of contact between them.
She layed back down next to him, snuggled up close to his side as she closed her eyes. Before falling asleep, she parted her eyelids to look at him once more. His sleeping form was beautiful, even in his sleep he looked like a formidable fighter.. as well as a gentle man. With a smile gracing her features, Rinoa closed her eyes and went to sleep next to the one she loved.
