Now I will just say goodbye.
As the words filled the page, time lost all meaning. Silence ebbed and flowed like a gentle wave and nothing mattered here in this solitude. He did not pause to think as his feelings spilled onto the page. The dark room was warm in a physical sense, but, in his present mental state, the darkness called to him like an angry entity. Figures, images, memories flashed before his eyes, blinding him to the sorrowful words of goodbye on the page. He paused as hot, angry tears began to fill his eyes. Through the blur he could see snatches of his words. "Goodbye. It's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself. I'm so unhappy. Let me go."
He wiped away the hot tears with his sleeve and signed his name at the bottom of the page with a modest flourish. As an afterthought, he added one last line- "Please forgive me." He turned towards the gleaming hilt and then everything faded to black.
