The wind was warm, leaves were rustling, and feathers were dancing with the dandelions.
Among the dreamy pandemonium of nature, the boy was sitting underneath the twisted willow tree, ocean blues hidden behind closed lids. Wispy tendrils fell over his eyes, tickling his nose and cheeks, light lashes soon fluttering open. A pale face and smiling rosy lips greeted him and he smiled back with ease. The girl then sat beside him with a lazy slump, giggling along the way, her voice a twinkle among the natural chaos of wonders.
"You're late." He gently stated with a throaty voice.
She shrugged. "Thought I'd make you wait for a while. Besides, there's no harm in waiting."
The lake in front of them glittered under the glaring sun, tumbling around in soothing waves and ripples.
"I guess not." He paused. "Why here?"
"Here? It's my favorite spot. It lets me think in peace."
"Here… here is where confusion runs around like it's its playground. Before you know it, it turns you into a living, breathing mess of turmoil."
She looked at him, faint smile tugging on her lips, a quirky arch of her brow.
He shook his head, chuckling to himself. "Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I've been through it before. I don't see how you can think here… almost impossible."
"If you let your mind get ahead of you, yes, I guess it would be."
His fingers slowly traced the green grass underneath him, plucking out a few strands from the earth. He twirled one between his fingers before chucking it a way, watching as it drifted down onto his cloth-covered leg. A silent question hovered in his mind as he stole a glance at the one sitting beside him, her eyes closed, breathing slowly and softly.
"Cloud. You might as well just say it now. If you keep it to yourself, it'll be impossible to think. The more you get off your chest, the more you'll feel at ease." She said.
Silence breathed, then finally let go.
"Why did you leave?"
She cracked open her eyes, emeralds shining back at him with an almost sad glow.
"I don't know the reason. I just like it here." She grinned. "I didn't mean to save you."
A small, almost invisible smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"For the Planet, right?"
"I guess… yes, I did it for them. But here I get to escape everything."
He plucked another strand from the ground. "Even me?"
"No. Not you. Never you. Dreamland is just so much better than reality; it's a better place to live in."
"I wouldn't know."
There was a playful glint in her eyes and he didn't miss it.
"You wouldn't, huh? Funny, you said you'd meet me in dreamland, didn't you?"
She leaned her back against his arm, a periwinkle covered in dewdrops clasped between her fingers.
"Yes… but only because you told me to."
"But you're here. So no, I would never leave you. Wherever I go, you go. Right?"
"Right."
"So that's that." She stood up. "So go to sleep, you big goof, and I'll see you in dreamland."
She gave him a wink and with that, his eyes fluttered close, leaving his fantasy reality once again.
He opened his eyes, greeted with nothing but the ambiance of darkness.
In the heavens above, a peacefully resting woman in pink would greet him in the early morning where romanticism and realism collide in a starburst of purple, gray, and gold.
So, he closed his eyes and prepared himself to dream again in that imminent tomorrow.
Author's Notes: Completely bizarre… you would have to go analytical on me to figure out just what happened and what they meant by 'here' – pretty obvious, though, if you think about it. I'd like to blame that on my head, which is currently a jumbled mess of anger and dizziness and all the things that fall in between. Oh yeah. And it's also due to the countless times I've listened to my play list of sentimental, hypnotizing tunes.
