The Swim

I swam another stroke. I had 12 and a half laps done now in the Academy's pool. My muscles were tired and sore, and the open wounds on my hands, and legs from this mornings excursions climbing ropes were stinging more than I cared to admit. Only two laps left now I tell myself as I turn back to start another lap. I'd swim 15 laps today. My strength was ok, my endurance as well, but both needed some major work. Besides what else was there to do?

It's vacation, and I'm one of eight people left on the entire base. Most everyone else had family to go home to. I haven't had anyone for a while now.

I pull myself up the ladder rungs and walk my aching body to the chair where my towel sits. I plp down, and ring my short hair out.

The water had always had a way of calming me down, even when I was on the streets. My muscles relax as I lean against the back of the lawn chair. There was no one around, and frankly I found the silence quite soothing compared to the normal hustle and bustle of Lake Victoria.

Tonight would definately be nice though, I had conned one of my flight instructors into giving me the keys to one of the Academy's jeeps. I was definately going out to eat, maybe Chinese, or Italian, then hit the movies.

Relazation is something I definately needed, which is why I'd conned the keys, and hopefully tonight would do the trick. Stretching a yawn escapes my mouth. I really need a shower.

Slowly I head towards the exit making sure not to slip on the tiles. The door behind me creeks open, and I stop and turn to see who it is. My bangs annoyingly falling in front of my face in such a manner that it makes it hard to see, but I can still see perfectly well who it is. It's Zechs, still handsome as ever. Every time I see him, I feel as though I've met him before the Academy, we're good friends, but I can't help thinking that I know him from somewhere, and just can't place it.

"Hey Zechs, do you want to come out for dinner and a movie?"

He looks up and across at me, his gaze feeling like its burning a hole in me, even with the mask on. "I'd love to Noin," he answers back, and I catch the sight of a fleeting smirk. He was up to something, must be, but I'll ignore it for now.

"I'll meet you at 7 in front of the entrance, I'll be there with a jeep."

He looks at me quizically, giving his face an almost innocentt childlike expression. "How?"

I smile inwardly, "My secret."

I exit, but turn slightly after reaching the door to see him throw his shirt on the chair I'd had, and proceed to dive into the pool. Maybe tonight would turn out better than I thought.

A/N: This is the first thing I've worked on in a while, I'll try and pick up my other fic, but it's been so long since i've dropped it that I don't know if I'll be able to but I'll try. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
