A/N: *sigh* I don't know that I'm entirely happy about this, but by the
same token I'm not sure how to improve it. We could take this as a sign I
can't do rhyming verse to save my life, I guess. At any rate, if you all
could point out everything wrong with it, that would be good of you.
Thanks.
White arrows fly true,
In Uinen's name
For all was at peace
'Til the Noldor came.
Dark your purpose,
In darkness you came,
Dark your methods,
And darker your shame.
We care not for your gems,
For your foolish pride,
The singers care only
For the swans and the tide.
The ships are ours
By our fathers made
And the sails we wove
By our own blood stained
You came in the darkness
Thieves in the night
Why should we care,
For the Noldor's plight?
For you care not,
For our sea, for our song,
But why do you hate so?
We did you no wrong.
So here is my swan-song
May ever you be,
Never at peace,
Called back by the sea,
The blood that you spilled
On our once-blessed shore,
Shall in your dreams be
Echoed forevermore
Yet sorrow we will,
Above sea, under star,
For kin slayers you be,
Yet kin you still are.
