Title: Don't Let Go
She sank into his warm embrace and sighed. She felt safe, happy. She hadn't remembered feeling like that for a long time. Abby smiled to herself, then reality hit her, this hug would end all too soon.
Luka looked down at Abby's long hair and smiled. He loved the way she held onto him as if she would fall if she let go. He didn't want to let go, but knew he had to, so as fast as it had started, it ended. Luka moved away from Abby. G-D he missed her, he missed her so much it hurt. How could he tell her though? She was with Carter.
Abby looked at him. She tried to read his face but couldn't.
"Luka, what is it?" She asked, although she already knew the answer.
"Abby...I...we..." Luka begun "...we can't do this. You're with Carter, he loves you." He sat down on the sofa in the lounge. He couldn't believe he said that, couldn't believe that he admitted Carter's love for Abby. He knew it was true, but he didn't want to say out loud. Luka had been waiting for him and Abby to reconnect, but this was the wrong time, Carter's grandmother had just been buried!
Abby took his hand in hers "I know, but it's not him I want, it's you." She sighed. "I think we've both known for a long time that we weren't right for each other, but we were just scared of being lonely." She let go of his hand and sat down next to him. She missed him. She missed him more than Luka knew.
For the next few minutes they sat there in complete silence. Both too afraid to talk in case they ruined this moment. Eventually Luka spoke up, interrupting Abby's thoughts.
"Abby, if we do get back together, then we've got to work on it, get it right" He looked at Abby and continued "I don't want it to be like before or to end like before. I..."
Abby put a finger on his lips to stop him from continuing.
"Shhh...Luka, it's ok, we'll work on it, get it right. I promise."
She leaned in and kissed him before he could start talking again.
"I love you." Abby whispered. "I love you too." Luka thought.
