The Final Fantasy
By our blades have we battles won
And heroes made;
By the tasks we have done
Our records said.
We fight for our justice, for theirs,
For the light and the life
We have fought the good fight.
In grief was courage born,
And in evil was death come.
Still we fight, though the light may fail,
Though we fall others will rise,
Phoenix, Leviathan, Dragon's eyes
Odin, Eden, all to realize
Our final dream, our final battle,
Our Final Fantasy.
Darkness beyond darkest night,
Clarity beyond brightest light,
Into the abyss we cast away
Our Final Flame, our Final Fantasy.
One for the father,
Another for the mother,
The angry brawler and the bitter warrior.
Third for the son,
Then for the daughter,
The key to the past and the child teacher.
Fifth for the lion,
Sixth for the dove,
The lonely one and the light of life.
Bound by past, present and future,
Given none, giving nature
A final gift, a final wish,
A Final Fantasy.
Death beyond the deepest grave,
Life beyond the final spark,
Into the unknown we cast our lot,
Our Final Defiance, our Final Fantasy.
A rose for the child,
A daisy for the belle.
Honeysuckle for the green lady,
Baby's breath for those who fell.
Glass roses for the dark horse,
Hyacinth for the man with no name.
A thistle for the dead one,
Dandelion for the wind,
Passion for the hunter
And narcissus for the night.
Star-child, star-born,
Created and changed,
A battle lost and a war won,
As death arranged,
A final prayer, a final wish,
A Final Fantasy.
Despair beyond the blackest agony,
Hope beyond the last light,
Into the past, as Persephone,
Falls our final Destiny.

I think I could call this poem the 'FFVII/FFVIII" crossover. Sorry to those
who thought this actually meant anything. I don't know about that. Comes
from being a frazzled English Literature student whose two-week-old
AudioSteno has broken down for no reason, plus this is the last day of my
exams before I go for my Chinese oral mock exam. On top of that, I
desperately want my FF8 and 7 games to play, but I won't get them back
until I move in mid-June. So- yeah. So maybe it was a stupid reason. But
you don't need to review if you don't want to. Thanks for staying with me
to the end of this monster.
