Disclaimer:  Please see Chapter 1. =)

The dream fades away and consciousness claims you.  Your forest diminishes and the sound of the river grows fainter as you are pulled into reality.  Eyes still closed, you let out a sigh.  You try to hold on to the vestiges of your encounter.

Somehow, you do not feel the same sense of loss that you have always felt after leaving your sanctuary.  It is strange not to feel it now, particularly since it was the last time you would be able to be with him.  Not wanting to overanalyze and ruin the experience, you decide to fully wake.  You take a deep breath.  You exhale.  Then you open your eyes.

You involuntarily gasp.

Rock-strewn Mountains.  Bright and majestic.  A full range stretches across your line of vision, seemingly surrounding you.  Colossal slabs of stone glisten yellow and orange in what appears to be the midday sun.  The jagged outline strikes against the fair indigo sky.

An eagle soars above the summit of the highest peak in an amazing display of aerial acrobatics.  You watch in awe as the magnificent bird spirals into a vertical dive then pulls up into a high loop.

"The eagles of Thorondor are hardly humble," a melodious voice says behind you.

You spin around and see him there.  You realize that you and he are standing amidst what looks to be a valley completely encircled by a mountain range of rocks and canyons.  You wonder why you did not sense him immediately.  He stares back at you with unreadable grey eyes.

Then it dawns on you.

You smile.

The dream is not yet over.

A/N:  I really wasn't expecting any reviews since I don't know anyone here at ffnet.  But at least one person asked for another post and I couldn't get this plot bunny out of my head.  This is only 1/4th of the 2nd Chapter but I thought I might post it first.  Thanks Lina Skye!  Hope this doesn't disappoint you.  =)
