It's complicated, but then, I've long known life is never easy.

That reality set in when Ty Senior broke my heart, but I couldn't kick him out.

He was a dirty cop and a lousy husband, but Ty Junior and the girls needed a father, so I forgave him, for everything.

When he died you were there for me.

You were his partner then and now you've become a friend and so much more.

The problem is, now you are my son's partner and though I can't thank you enough for that, I can't tell you I love you either.
