This is my third His Dark Materials poem, a Shakespearean
sonnet, written as if by Will of and to Lyra.

True Love
Rebellious eyes that wildly sparkled bright,
that met my own, and how they struck me so,
those eyes that brought into my life new light,
alas, to bring me joy, reduced to woe.
You opened worlds both under and above,
revealed to me what I could never see.
My words, to you, the one I truly love,
cannot express how much you mean to me.
My tears, I shed each time I think of you,
and I remember what I left behind.
The Subtle Knife could not cut love so true,
that love that I forever seek to find.
To see your face, I vow within my
heart.
Sealed windows cannot keep true
love apart.
