:: re-posting of my old fic. Curt and Eric are based on Flameraven and DarkElf. Check 'em out! *cough*shamelessplug!*cough* Based on odd thoughts while watching DarkElf play Digimon World 3 ::
"Cardmon"
Curt and Eric were pretty much brothers without being related at all. They were also Digi-Destined from some over-crowded town in northern Virginia, not too far from Washington DC. Eric got his Digivice first, a shiny iridescent blue one with a nifty flame pattern on the back. He was also the first of the two to go to the Digital World. His Digimon was a Seadramon, a very beast Digimon with some beastie digivolutions. Curt got his Digivice about two weeks later, a dead-grass yellow thing. When he went to the World, all he got was a Cardmon. A Digimon that looked like a yellow ball with a card pack attached somehow to its top side.
Curt realized his Digimon sucked and "curtly" drop-kicked it.
A card whizzed back and gave him a nasty card cut on the back of his neck. Swearing loudly, he held a handkerchief up to his neck, hoping to make the bleeding stop. Cardmon decided to help by sitting on his neck, pinning him down. Seadramon died laughing. Grumbling, Curt struggled up and glared at the Digimon.
"Is that all you can do?" He glared more and snorted. The Digimon was bouncing up and down laughing in a mechanical, digital kind of way. Curt then noticed the card that had cut him.
Stooping, Curt picked up the card and realized it was pretty good. A freeze bug, what Curt had been after for a long time.
"You can do that too. Sweet." Curt adjusted his western-style hat and slipped the card in the pocket of his leather jacket.
Eric turned to his Seadramon and said, "Why can't you give me a beast card?" He squeaked. A few locks of his black-ish hair fell into his face.
Seadramon snorted in Eric's face, clearing away the hair that just fell in the boy's face. "Get a haircut, boy, and maybe I will." The Digimon said.
Cardmon was jumping up and down again, eagerly wanting to fight Seadramon.
"You wanna fight him? Go ahead." Curt said. Both Seadramon and Eric snorted at the little dough-ball's challenge. However, Cardmon was to show them up again. With two hits, Seadramon fell. Cardmon had cursed his HP, making it drop drastically each turn.
As a strange victory dance, Cardmon digivolved and gained another pack. One pack flanked either side of the Digimon. Cardmon did, however, give Eric an Imperialdramon card as a consolation prize.
*****
Eric started in his sleep and sat up. He had just had the worst nightmare ever. He got his butt beat by a little round ball that was owned by his best friend. Shaking out his curly hair and looking over, he saw his girlfriend, clutching a round yellow ball. If he could, he would have sweatdropped.
Being a dork and sleeping in his jeans, he dug in his pocket and found an Imperialdramon card.
"It was just a dream. A weird coincidence." He mumbled.
Or was it...
^The End^
