My first is in gem but not jewel,
My second is in reign and rule,
My third is not in lie, but in liar,
My fourth is in mire but not dire,
My fifth is in agony and pain,
My sixth is in link or chain,
My seventh is golden but not gold,
And my eighth is in knell but not ring or tolled.
