Simile-Lupus
A howl in the dark is the only warning.
The moon is full tonight. It shines as brightly as your eyes.
O little wolf, pretty wolf, come out and play tonight.
My fur, as black as night; hides me from prying eyes,
Those who wish to find a way through.
O little wolf, pretty wolf, come out and play with us.
A brilliant steed, from the prongs on his head, to the white of his tail,
Is silent as wind, prances about in the rich green fields of grass.
My little wolf, our pretty wolf, let us play all night.
We will protect you, our golden Lupus, from the others.
The moon sings in your veins, and you sing with it.
An eerie howl accompanied by one other and a heavy stamp of a hoof.
We are your friends, here to comfort you.
Never have you felt like this, none of this comfort.
We prowl the grounds, enjoying the quiet and stillness.
Clouds drift slowly across that moon, the same that is bright,
As bright as your golden fur in its light.
A black shadow creeps from its safety behind the stag
To cause a playful brawl of jaws and claws.
O my little wolf, how untamed you look on these nights.
Everything must envy you, my pretty wolf.
As this night begins to close, you feel the need for us again,
More then for warmth, more then for friendship,
You need our protection. A protection from everything that envies you,
And that envies us for knowing you, our pretty, little wolf.
These things are human, and though we are partial to them, there is no way
Always to be here; never far from reach, sight or call.
We will protect you, our golden Lupus, from everything.
You are our friend. And we are yours. Your secret is safe, in our minds-
And our hearts.
Play all night, our little wolf. My Lupus.
