| the death of the forest|
mizukori

.a single rotted leaf was crushed into the moistened ground..
..as it was trampled gently by feeble paws of a passerby..
..fur black as night whilst gray as an obscure eve..
..violet orbs shone like the dimmed moon..

..the cobwebs swayed into the brittle stone of the rocks..
..the lake's waters were still..
..for it's circumstition by the laughter of the inhabitants..
..was now deceased..

..a single blackened paw was enough to crack the frail soil..
..crusted, dry, unscathed..
..it had been at rest, redundant for years..
..for the forest was derelict and hushed..

..a frozen breeze flew past with wings abroad..
..chilling the single passerby..
..gently rustling the emaciated leaves..
..rousing the potholed blades of golden grass..

..a single rotted flower rest..
..at the lithe heel of the passerby..
..countless moons old..
..nature had chosen to let it lay..

..the passerby shifted a delicate head towards the still waters..
..faded moonlight shone vivid from it's pallid facade..
..she emitted a mournful cry..
..evading throughout the tranquility..

..the dismayed passerby turned in retreat..
..leaving the forgotten forest to it's rest..
..a lone tear crept down a single violet orb..
..the forlorn bead moistening hollow soil..

..'twas the last trace of life..
..the forest had ever encountered..
..for the freezing embrace of death..
..had claimed another victim..

..and the forest was dead..
