***Prologue***
Ami collapsed on her four-poster and closed her eyes for a few seconds. Why had she decided to take so many classes? Her Charms homework was especially extensive today, and on top of her Divination report, too. Sighing, she looked over at her bedside table, where the ocean-resembling sphere rested on its stand. Her brother had sent it to her from London. Ami grabbed it from the stand and began to examine it. Did it serve some other purpose than to just sit there for people to admire? After going over the smooth surface very thoroughly, Ami got an idea and took out her wand. She tapped the sphere lightly.
Suddenly, there was a brilliant flash of light that engulfed Ami, nearly blinding her. A moment later, she was still sitting on her bed. She shrugged and went to set the sphere back on its stand, only the stand wasn't there. "That's odd..." she said to herself, and set it on the bedside table. Laying down on the bed, Ami tried to fall asleep, but something wasn't right. Looking to a side of the bed, her eyes grew wide and she let out a small scream.
