helplessness cripples me
through my tears
i see you smile- lit with
grim pleasure
burning through your eerie beauty
i taste desperation
a shattering of porcelain hope
behind you, lightning flickers
there's a frenzied bloodthirst
like i've seen in battles
of innocent youths wielding
glorious dreams
i see the machines in their slumber
taste the fresh Obernewtyn air
crying out to the others
as you hacked at my body
i failed the dead... cameo, sharna, jik
i failed obernewtyn, my feet still on
the black road
i failed you, Rushton... my ravek
stepping over me
you seduce the coiled darkness within
you leave me bare and berefit
of my former power
i am broken
a flower without its petals
with eyes drained of life-
an angel without wings
A/N This is a poem depicting what Elspeth would feel if she were killed by the destroyer. Inspired by how I was feeling this morning, when chaos was present in my house.
