A Shadow in the Night by Day
A warm breeze breaths over you, upsetting your hair,
Not that you care…
You're too busy sprawled like a cat in the sun,
Stretched out, enjoying a rest from your run
Sweat still glistens and clings to your skin
My breath becomes quicker, my patience grows thin
Life giving light illuminates you
And you don't have a clue…
Just as you enjoy this fine lazy day,
A very dark shadow is stalking its prey
It's almost a thrill to see you so unaware
As I move closer… As close as I dare…
You stir and sit up, my confidence scatters,
Not that it matters…
You look up at me and with just barely a smile
You send my heart racing, such unwitting guile
You still don't see it, and with each step I take
It's one more step backward, that I cannot make
So our old game starts up, you know you never change
And yet for you it doesn't seem strange…
With every slight, every insult that flies
I get further lost, in your beautiful eyes
I decide now, that I'll make you mine,
I'll break every rule; I'll cross any line…
