A World Away

Old fighter, your knuckles are worn bare

Bruises are like badges that you still proudly wear

And even as your strength fails, the fire is sill there

What fate confines you, to this mortal shell?

It forces you to someday lose; only time can tell

How can you live this hard life, in this mortal hell?

Strength and honor, and victory will follow

As you enter the bloody ring, to face their hearts so hallow

Another badge or two today, and more pain pills to swallow

How can you fight so hard each day, bearing all this pain?

Why sacrifice yourself, when there's nothing left to gain?

Still I watch your silent form, unflinching in the rain…

Bloodlust shadows your every step, crimson runs in streams

Malice is walking by your side, and haunts you in your dreams

Mêlée makes your mind run wild, amidst these feral screams

I pity this old fighter, and our eyes will never meet

Someday a monster will appear, that he cannot defeat

I do not want to see his dying body, lying in the street
